The four convicts kept trying to postpone the execution till the last moment. Two hours before the hanging, the Supreme Court dismissed his last petition. Earlier in the night, his petition was heard in the Delhi High Court. But there too, his petition was rejected, after which his lawyer reached the Supreme Court. The four convicts of Nirbhaya did not sleep overnight and kept asking the policemen if any new order had come from the court.
चारों दोषी आखिरी वक्त तक फांसी टलवाने की कोशिश करते रहे. फांसी होने से दो घंटे पहले सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने उनकी आखिरी याचिका खारिज की. इससे पहले रात में दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट में उनकी याचिका पर सुनवाई की गई. लेकिन वहां भी उनकी याचिका खारिज कर दी गई थी, जिसके बाद इनका वकील सुप्रीम कोर्ट पहुंचा था. निर्भया के चारों दोषी रात भर नहीं सोए और पुलिसवालों से पूछते रहे कि क्या कोर्ट से कोई नया आदेश आया है
